Take a Seat – Australian modernist seating

In celebration and acknowledgement of the modernist foundations as the Emu Plains home and studio of artists Margo and Gerald Lewers, until their respective deaths in 1978 and 1962, the Penrith Regional Gallery & The Lewers Bequest programs exhibitions which explore aspects of the modernist era and endeavour.

Currently showing, Take a Seat – Australian Modernist Seating, explores a period (1940-1975) of immense vitality and productivity in Australian seating design.

Meredith Hinchliffe has brought together fine examples of mid- 20th century Australian furniture seating design classics, exhibited with select modernist paintings by Margo Lewers from the Gallery’s own collection. Website: www.penrithregionalgallery.org
